Riding distance 90 kilometers. Depart 9:30am
Your luggage will already be winging it’s way to your evenings accommodation while we take a short 20 minute scenic flight into the mountains. This flight is a great experience and gives you a birds eye view of the terrain you will be riding while you bunny hop at low altitude towards the bikes waiting at the airport. On arrival it’s a quick change into your riding gear and we head into the bush up to a discreet hill tribe lodge and one of the highlights of this motorbike trip. Great comfortable accommodation in the hands of the Karen Hill tribe who will be our hosts for the evening with BBQ under the stars surrounded by lush forests with an open log fire to soften the chilly mountain air.
Day 3 Mae Hong Son
Distance 130 Kilometers. Depart 9:30
After a hearty breakfast we gear up and head towards the capital of the province. Today’s motorbike ride offers superb scenery over this large mountain range with lush tropical forests capping a myriad of mountain peaks as far as the eye can see so a great day for some photo stops. Passing through many hill tribe villages and a few steep ascents we drop down into Mae Hong Son city. Our aim is to arrive around 3 pm for a late lunch by the pool and a chance to chill out and soak up the the beautiful scenery. Into town around 7pm and for a walk around the lake and the hill tribe market before dinner and then a few cheeky beers shall we?
Day 4 Khun Yuam
Refugee camp and a ride you will never forget. Distance 120 Kilometers.
After a short 10 kilometer trip on the main highway we begin our journey onto the dirt heading towards the Burmese border. A few river crossings today and some creek riding deep in the teak forests lining the border between Thailand and Burma on our favourite trail in South East Asia. A little more technical riding today and a few large river crossings before making our way to the refugee camp directly on the border (Thai side). After some lunch we head out of the jungle and back into civilisation to a quaint resort 700 meters above sea level.
Day 5 Pai North West Thailand
Long Days ride but finishing on a high. Distance 170 kilometers
Last days ride and a good one to finish up the trip. Today we head back to Pai finishing a great mountain loop and siding some of the steepest mountains of the trip arriving into Pai approximately 3 pm where we have laid on an awesome resort with some of the finest scenery on the trip.
